On 26 February 2026, the University of Amsterdam hosted the 3rd Joint CCSS–UvA Workshop on Computational Social Science and Intelligent Systems at the Informatics Institute, Science Park. The event, jointly organised by the Center for Computational Social Science (Kobe University), the Informatics Institute (UvA) and RIKEN, brought together researchers working on computational approaches to study human social behaviour, financial systems, small and medium-sized enterprises, and social-ecological-technological systems. Talks spanned theoretical, empirical, and data-driven methods, all united by a focus on using computational methods to better understand complex social phenomena.

Both CSL and CLS MSc students were strongly present throughout the workshop; presenting their work, engaging in discussions, and connecting with researchers from Kobe University, UvA, and RIKEN. Their participation highlighted the growing role of early-career scholars in computational social science at UvA and contributed to the workshop’s broader aim of strengthening long-term collaborations between the two institutions.
