Distributed Software Engineering

A novel approach to scientific investigations is to integrate different, interdisciplinary sources of knowledge about a complex system to obtain an understanding of the system as a whole. This innovative way of research, carried out on a holistic level, require new e-research environments. Such environments aim to support integration of various sources of data and computational tools to help investigators acquire an understanding of a given phenomenon through modeling and simulation processes.

The results of this research enables us to develop collaborative problem solving systems in such a way that it automates scientific discovery processes based on in-silico experiments. This system will analyse data dependencies and control computations according to them. Virtualisation will enable transparent use of compute- and storage resources. The system will feature sharing of knowledge and expertise and increases the reusablity of application components among the scientific community.
