SCS colloquium: Finite Element Modeling of Fluid-Structure Interaction in a Network of Blood Vessels
Speakers: Valeria Krzhizhanovskaya and Ivan Mashey
Valeria is teaching a new course on Finite Element Method (FEM) for Master students. http://studiegids.uva.nl/web/uva/sgs/en/c/10255.html
Ivan is a Master student who will present his mini-project in simulation of Fluid-Structure Interaction in a Network of Blood Vessels. This model studies a portion of the vascular system. The aorta and its ramified blood vessels are embedded in biological tissue. The pressure from the moving fluid deforms the blood vessel. The simulations have been performed in COMSOL Multiphysics, a high-end FEM software.
