Title: Coral modeling, morphometrics and phylogeny.
Summary :
A computational growth model was developed to study influence of the environment on the morphology of the coral colonies. The model provided  important insights in   the interaction of the colony with its direct environment.  However, a quantitative comparison of the simulation results with the real corals has not been done yet. Recently the CT-scans of 30 coral colonies were measured in order to obtain the key morphometric parameters. In this talk the results of the comparative analysis between simulations and the real corals will be presented. Furthermore,  the available morphological data can be compared with the genetic data collected from the same coral colonies. The first results of genotype-phenotype comparison using phylogeny will be discussed at the end of the presentation.
