Peridynamics

Peridynamics
is a particle-based formulation of structural mechanics, and is a good
candidate to bridge the scales from the cellular level to the tissue
level in multiscale models of soft biological tissues. In this project
you will investigate this idea by
formulation a Peridynamics model for vascular tissue, implementing it
using a public domain parallel molecular dynamics package, and tune the
model to reproduce vascular tissue mechanics. Once validated, your model
will then serve to build a multiscale model
of a tissue, where the langrangian particles in the Peridynamics model
are turned into agents, mimicking the proliferative behaviour of real
cells.
